Since early childhood I took inspiration from an ancient English heroine – Boadicea, who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire in the first century. To a girl growing up in the 50s and 60s caught in the constraints of the post war, pre-feminist era, Boadicea, triumphant in her chariot, epitomised the strong female leadership that I yearned for.
At the inaugural ACT conference in Nottingham, over 100 business support professionals from across the country are gathered. Grey-haired men and highlighted-haired women, the average age is around 50. They’ve seen recession before, maybe twice or three times, and have more answers than most to the current predicament.
