Bournemouth Development Company completes £12m scheme

The public-private partnership Bournemouth Development Company (BDC) has competed its latest £12m scheme.

The Treetops development, located in Bournemouth town centre, offers one, two and three-bedroom homes for rent.

BCP Council purchased Treetops from BDC as a long-term investment asset.

The homes are being operated as a private-sector rental scheme via the council’s wholly owned services company Seascape Homes & Property Limited under a 25-year lease.

BDC is a 50:50 partnership between BCP Council and national urban regenerator Muse Developments, a Morgan Sindall Group company.

It was established in 2011 to help regenerate Bournemouth town centre.

The development also return profits back to BCP Council for investment in future regeneration projects – two of the main aims of the partnership.

BDC has also recently broken ground on the next stage of its wider masterplan, a 44-apartment development to the west of Bournemouth’s town centre on Durley Road, due for completion in 2022.

‘We’re proud to have completed another successful BDC scheme safely and in line with government guidelines, despite the challenging times we’re in,’ said Muse’s development manager, Anna Lindfield.

‘We’re committed to repurposing under-used and unloved sites in partnership to benefit communities. Together with BCP Council, we’ve transformed this scheme into a series of stunning homes that’s driving local economic growth and creating a wealth of opportunities and prosperity at a time when it’s needed most.’

BCP Council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, economy and strategic planning, Cllr Phillip Broadhead added: ‘The completion of this partnership development is great news for BCP Council, and is another step towards regenerating the town centre, while also delivering funds back to the council for future projects.’
