Stonewater launches ‘People Like Me’ campaign

The programme is designed to celebrate the leading social housing provider’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).

‘People Like Me’ is a multi-media initiative comprised of videos and blogs that highlight the experiences of employees across Stonewater, the UK’s leading provider of social housing.

Following this, the campaign aims to evoke conversations across the housing sector and demonstrate how embracing inclusion leads to more effective services for customers and communities.

Cordelia Johnny, Stonewater’s Head of EDI, said: ‘Equality, diversity and inclusion aren’t just ideals – they’re integral to how we work, how we innovate, and how we make a difference. The People Like Me campaign celebrates the real-life stories of our colleagues who are helping to drive change and enrich our organisation.

‘By recognising and amplifying voices that are often underrepresented, this campaign provides a platform for authentic stories, showing how diversity strengthens our organisation and benefits the communities we serve. We hope to inspire others within and beyond our sector to prioritise EDI in meaningful ways and spark a broader conversation about the value of inclusion.’

Arguably, this campaign couldn’t have come at a better time. In 2023 The National Housing Federation (NHF) published research which shows female representation within the housing workforce is stark. Only 47% of executives and 44% of board members are female compared to 54% of the workforce.

Meanwhile, only 9% of the sector’s workforce have a disability or long-term condition compared to 24% of the population and 29% of residents.
