Applications are now open for next round of the Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland Social Entrepreneurs Programme. The programme offers people who want to use business as a way to make a positive difference to their community, or the environment, free support and funding up to £7,000. More than 2,000 people have already benefitted from the scheme, which is run in partnership with the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) and jointly funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the Scottish Government. Now in its 10th year, it is the largest programme of its kind in the UK supporting people to start and grow innovative social-impact organisations. One in five social entrepreneurs who have taken part in the programme are from Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds (BAME), one in 10 have a disability and two-thirds are women.
