Northeast development enters final stage of construction

Citivale, a specialist logistics developer and operator, have created a new sustainable industrial space that is due to open its doors early next year.

The development, which is otherwise known as Greenbox, is situated in Darlington – a small market town in the Northeast. It is expected the full project will be finished in February 2025.

Spanning over 400,000 sq ft, Greenbox is comprised of three prime industrial units and will eventually be home to some big organisations including Cummins Engines, Nobia, British Steel and Amazon.

What’s more, the project is also in-keeping with the government’s sustainability targets. Greenbox has an EPC ‘A’ rating and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The three units will utilise LED lighting, 100& photovoltaic panel-ready roofs and reserve 10% of parking for electric vehicles.

Alex Reynolds, development director at Citivale, said: ‘The completion of Greenbox Darlington in February 2025 will mark a significant milestone in our strategy to deliver sustainable, market-leading industrial assets.

‘Greenbox Darlington will set a new quality benchmark for ESG-led developments and represent one of the UK’s very best critical logistics infrastructure assets.

‘We are proud that this new strategic location will play a vital, long-term role in strengthening the UK’s supply chain resilience and make a positive impact at a local level for the environment and for communities.’

Whilst Citivale have spearheaded Greenbox, the development has also been delivered in partnership with Savills and HTA Real Estate, who led the projects marketing and Winvic, who are the contractor of the scheme.
