The deadline for public input into the authority’s Local Plan has also been pushed back due to the level of response.
Members of the public now have until Monday 20th October to submit feedback to the Local Transport Plan, and Friday 31st October for the Local Plan.
“We’re really encouraged by the level of interest in both consultations, it shows how much people care about the future of Dorset. We’re sorry that some residents have experienced issues accessing the online platform, and we want to make sure no one is prevented from having their say,’ said Jane Britton, Dorset Council’s Executive Director.
‘That’s why we’re keeping both consultations open online and by email for longer. The Local Transport Plan consultation will stay open until 20 October and the Local Plan consultation until 31 October,’ she continued. ‘We’re also reminding people that alternative formats are available. As well as sending their comments by email, residents can use the Easy Read versions of both plans, which are available on our website as we want to make sure the process is accessible to everyone.’
Amongst Dorset’s proposals are ambitious plans to reduce congestion on the county’s roads, in turn improving air quality. The region has already invested £79million through the Transforming Cities Fund and local contributions, improving walking, cycling, wheeling and public transport connections. A further £49.5million has come from the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership Local Growth Fund to deliver extensive road upgrades, while a micro-mobility scheme has been launched across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland, in partnership with Beryl.
