Next phase of a Salford regeneration project has been mapped out

The construction of 450 homes and delivery of a revamped public park are the next projects in store for a former High Street estate in Salford.

SP+, Lovell Partnerships and Together Housing have drawn up proposals to redevelop a swathe of the former Pendleton estate between Churchill Way and Liverpool Street in Salford.

A key part of the proposal is the rejuvenation of Clarendon Park – under the consortium’s plans the park would be improved through planting more trees and flowers, improvements to the public realm and the creation of an all-weather five-a-side sporting pitch and a skate park to make the area more desirable for young people and families.

A public consultation of the plans and an exhibition of them at Pendleton Gateway Centre occurred this week.

Additionally, the 450 homes that have also been included within the regeneration plans will be comprised of a mix of houses and apartments with one-to-four bedrooms available. The developers have also earmarked 30% of the properties to be accessible for affordable tenures.

Overall, the entire project aims to deliver 3,000 new and refurbished properties in the northern area following the demolition of around 800 former council houses.

At present, work is underway to deliver phase three – the 344 home Spinners Quarter – located south of Liverpool Street. Meanwhile, plans for a replacement for a local leisure centre that was once active here are also in the works.
