The Transport Planning and Network Strategy service area brings together Transport Planning including management of the Transportation Capital Programme, Strategic Traffic Management including the Statutory Network Management duty under the Traffic Management Act 2004, supporting complex infrastructure projects such as HS2, Sprint and Metro, transport development control, travel demand management / communications and road safety.

In a period of unprecedented development and transformation, the need to properly assess the transport implications of developments and planning applications is greater than ever. Working as part of a team, this role is to assist in the development control process relating to transportation comments, pre-application discussions and discharge of conditions on planning application, to ensure that the right transport solutions are brought forward by third parties in line with the Council’s transportation and planning policies.
You will possess a broad transport planning knowledge along with specialist knowledge and expertise in formulating and developing network management strategies, ITS systems, MaaS, UTMC, CAVs and intelligent mobility, advanced data processing (big datasets), web technologies and spatial data management.You will have significant experience of budget monitoring , preparing funding bids, and working with elected Members and stakeholders, as well as having strong communication, leadership, partnership working and project management skills.
