Based primarily at 90 Leycroft Road, you’ll be required to undertake site visits in and around the city. And when not needed on location you will have flexibility to work from home. Since many works are over the weekend and nights to avoid disruptions to local traffic, you’ll be able to work flexibly with paid time off in lieu. Occasionally working with Leicestershire County Council for joint procurements and schemes. You'll be required to hold a current driving license.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll carry out asset management and maintenance programming for the two biggest assets within the city boundary. From start to finish, you’ll engineer design of major highway, bridge, transport infrastructure projects. This includes planning of works, production of tenders including documentation and costings and procurement to delivery of all maintenance programmes and construction projects. You’ll lead the preparation of designs for road and bridge replacement, strengthening and maintenance schemes. Working in collaboration with the team you’ll identify and meet the objectives in compliance with quality, safety, and environmental objectives, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders. With client satisfaction being key, you’ll bring your communication skills and stakeholder management to update at meetings and represent the council. You’ll undertake and manage highway, bridges and structural engineering schemes from inspection and assessment, feasibility through to detailed design. You’ll undertake quality reviews of designs prior to issue of deliverables produced by project teams.
What you’ll need
You’ll be able to prepare works packages and manage contracts. Working as part of the team, you’ll be able to create, deliver and monitor a programme of work that covers highways and bridges across the city. You’ll have excellent technical and communication skills, both verbal and written. A strong leader, you’ll be able to ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with legislation. You’ll have experience of working with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Highways specifications to assess highway maintenance requirements, design, and cost-effective solutions. Managing project budgets, you’ll be able to relay this information to a range of stakeholders, adapting to suit their technical knowledge. Confident in using systems will enable you to track assets lifecycles, place orders and monitor project progress. Self-motivated, you’ll be able to work independently, lead, supervise and train whilst providing guidance and advice to other team members.
