Telford & Wrekin Council is a well regarded and multi-award winning council.  Robust financial control plays an important part in enabling the council to deliver a consistently high standard of services to local communities.

This role is part of friendly team providing financial support to two directorate areas, Housing, Employment & Infrastructure (HE&I) and Policy & Governance.

With the implementation of our Strategic Housing & Regeneration strategy, driving the expansion and development of homes supporting vulnerable groups, you would provide financial support and guidance through some key & exciting changes.  This involves supporting high profile revenue projects within the authority and will enable you to continue to develop your career.

The postholder will be involved with the preparation of monthly financial monitoring through a business partnering approach and will meet Budget holders regularly to provide guidance and advice on financial implications.  You will also support key financial processes in the preparation of financial year end accounts and budget setting.

You will need to be fully AAT qualified, or part CCAB qualified and have experience of working in a financial environment.  

We are looking for someone with:

  • Good interpersonal skills to enable effective customer support
  • Good communication skills-oral and written
  • Ability to analyse and interpret routine financial information for a complex budget area with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to undertake costings and assessment of financial implications arising
  • Ability to see the broader picture and wider implications of a situation or instruction
  • Ability  to consistently achieve deadlines
  • Understanding of the concept of value for money
  • Good ICT skills
