Due to team expansion, we have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer (Drainage & Flood Risk Management) to join our Economy & Infrastructure directorate team.

An important time to join Solihull Council, this role allows you to play a fundamental part in developing and delivering our flood risk management agenda, which will make a real difference to our residents across the borough, particularly those who have experienced flooding in recent years. With an extensive local plan consisting of significant new housing and regeneration projects, as well as national schemes such as HS2, this role will see you working in partnership with other Risk Management Authorities and developers to ensure the Council achieves its vision where everyone in the Borough has an equal chance to be healthier, happier, safer, and more prosperous.

As Senior Engineer – Drainage & Flood Risk Management, you will be:

  • Leading on the development and submission of Flood Risk Management projects and schemes.
  • Responsible for securing funding and submitting bids for Flood Defence Grant in Aid and Local Levy.
  • Working in partnership with developers of strategic planning sites to enable the delivery of schemes.
  • Managing the on ground delivery of flood risk management schemes and maintain relationships with communities affected by flooding.

You will have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) or extended experience.
  • Experience of working in flood risk management
  • Experience of creating business cases and submitting bids for Flood Defence Grant in Aid funding / Local Levy funding.
  • Experience of reviewing major planning applications for suitability and compliance.
