This position is a fixed term contract for 18 months.

Located in the West Midlands, Sandwell is a metropolitan borough in the Black Country, which is made up of six towns – Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. The borough has excellent access to the national motorway network with five junctions feeding in to the M5 and M6 motorways serving the South West, South East and North West regions of the UK.

As Sandwell Council embarks on an exciting period of transformation, inward investment and expansion a superb new key role has been created within the Regeneration and Growth Directorate. The Council seeks to employ an experienced regeneration and investment professional with real vision and true leadership skills. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in the organisations future, by identifying and unlocking potential investment opportunities. As well as playing a central part in the Councils future ambitions in respect of income generation, urban regeneration and in securing inclusive economic growth opportunities.

Sandwell Council has a strong Regeneration and Growth investment agenda. The new team member will guide our progress to these goals and lead changes and innovation where required to stimulate delivery.

Candidates will have strong programme management and delivery skills. They will show a flair for realising the potential of a programme level investment approach, they will seek to ensure best practice and strive for continuous improvement.  Pro-active risk management and clear leadership through decision making will be crucial in this role.

This new role reflects great opportunity and prospects of securing real quantifiable growth in Sandwell. You will report directly to the Director of Regeneration and Growth and will work closely with several heads of service including Regeneration, Spatial Planning and Strategic Assets and Land.

Candidates will already have a successful track record in securing investment and delivering large scale regeneration projects. You will need to bring a high level of empathy, pragmatism and have a strong ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
