Are you an experienced Project Officer looking for an opportunity to work with a range of public and private sector partners across the county?

We are looking for experienced Project Officer to join our partnerships (LEPs) to project manage designated programmes on time and within budgets.

Who we are

Local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) are non-statutory bodies responsible for local economic development in England. We are business-led partnerships that bring together the private sector, local authorities and academic and voluntary institutions. We work with central government to set local investment priorities, as well as local employers and job centres to help people back to work, we lead changes in how businesses are regulated locally, support high-growth local businesses, and help deliver national priorities such as skills training, UK Shared Prosperity Fund, business support, digital infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

The role

As our Project Officer you will project manage designated programmes being delivered through the LEP negotiated investment funds. You will be responsible for ensuring investment secured by the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership is delivered on budget, on time and delivers the contracted outputs. You will work at a senior level with multiple organisations, building strong relationships, across York and North Yorkshire, including all Local Authorities, Sub-National Government Bodies, Local Partners and businesses. Projects may be both capital and revenue and across a range of different disciplines. Typically, these will support the delivery of economic priorities for the York and North Yorkshire area including themes of business growth and support, learning and skills, low carbon and environmental, communities, place and infrastructure.

You will assume the role of Quality Manager throughout the lifecycle of the project, compiling in regular progress reports, identifying and managing risks/issues.

Use of the terms “programmes” and “projects” in the Job Description and Person Specification are inter-changeable - the role will be required to manage programmes, which comprise multiple projects.

This is a great opportunity for a Project Management professional to widen their skill set and work with businesses across the county.

What you will bring.

You must hold project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM or similar) or significant experience of using structured project management methodologies. Excellent inter-personal communications skills is a must, along with the ability to demonstrate programme management skills across multiple disciplines. You will have good leadership and management skills, have good political awareness with a flexible approach with the ability to respond effectively to changing circumstances. You will have knowledge of capital project management and be able to demonstrate programme management skills across multiple disciplines. You must also be able to demonstrate excellent IT skills in the use of online systems and Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, and producing clear and concise reports.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience in Financial Management but we would welcome all candidates experienced in project management.
