Join forces with a new leadership team to introduce innovation

Nearly two million people rely on us to provide high quality services 365 days a year. To do our best for them, we need outstanding support behind the scenes. That’s why we’re transforming our systems and making sure they’re fit for today’s challenges and the future’s too. Working alongside a brand new leadership team, you’ll bring vital modernisation as a Programme Director.

We want you to deliver a complex programme of high value projects that will change how we work: innovative, commercially smart solutions that put the customer first. Working as part of our leadership team, you’ll mastermind the transition to better core business systems in Finance, HR and other areas, ensuring they make the biggest impact possible across the organisation. Along with new systems, you’ll bring all-around improvement, reducing waste, raising ambitions and making us more Agile. Naturally, the future’s important too: how will our systems look in two, five or ten years’ time?

This role will see you matrix managing significant amounts of resources from across the Council to get each project delivered. Plus, you’ll be working with senior stakeholders including Members, partners, central government and commercial organisations. That means you’ll need to be an exceptional people person who can inspire and influence, with the power to achieve goals through strong relationships.

A highly experienced programme manager with a relevant qualification, you’ll have a record of tackling transformational projects of a similar size and scale. You identify project risks and opportunities, manage stakeholders and contractors, and adapt to changing demands. And with your strategic view, you’ll have a detailed understanding of our wider Transformation Programme. Motivated to do more for local people by improving the efficiency of systems, you’ll be a resilient leader who’s politically sensitive.

For an informal discussion about the role contact our retained consultant at Penna: Jo Cumper on 07925 894 863 or email [email protected].
