The Urban Design & Building Services Department within the Strategic Assets and Land service area is one of the fastest growing departments within Sandwell Council. Due to this exciting and structured growth, a fantastic permanent opportunity exists for a Lead Principal Quantity Surveyor to join the service and spearhead targeting this expanding work area. You will be working within a diverse team made up of highly skilled and self-motivated individuals.
As the Lead Principal Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for running a team, maintaining full commercial and management responsibility for construction services and projects to multiple areas of the council. The team deliver a full range of advice and construction services on a variety of new build, re-modelling and refurbishment projects on behalf of the council’s internal and external clients, including housing, education and leisure schemes ranging from £10k to £15m.
You will also play a key strategic role in identifying and developing new opportunities and ensuring best value through innovation to enable the Council to realise exciting new development and large scale regeneration opportunities focused on rejuvenating Town Centres and realising ambitious housing delivery targets. This is all part of Sandwell’s drive to the Council’s ‘Vision 2030 Sandwell’ commitments.
Your team will comprise of one Chartered QS, Two part qualified QS’s, one Trainee QS, Three Clerks of Works, Two Finance Officers and two FM Management Officers.
Candidates will either be a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS or FRICS) or will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, with a minimum of five years’ relevant post qualification experience. Candidates that are not yet MRICS or FRICS will be committed to obtaining chartered status within a reasonable period of time after appointment, with the full support of Sandwell Council.
