An exciting opportunity has arisen at Durham Music Service for a Casual Instrument Repair and Maintenance Technician.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
This role will be responsible for the repair and maintain of Durham Music Service instrument stock, including brass, woodwind, upper and lower strings, and percussion instruments, ensuring they are in playable condition for whole class ensemble teaching and small group pupils as part of an instrument loan scheme.
We are looking to appoint an experienced, committed, motivated, hard-working, organised, enthusiastic colleague to achieve the highest standards for our service.
Applicants must have previous experience in this area of work, please see Job Description and Person Specification for further details.
Whilst this post is a casual role, it is expected the hours will average approximately one day per week, but at peak times this may be greater and at quieter times this may be less. The requirements of the service will be discussed, and the hours required will be negotiated in advance for planning and preparation purposes. We can offer flexibility outside of our core operating hours, if extra hours are needed at busier times to meet deadlines.
Most of the maintenance and repair of instruments will take place at Ushaw Historic House, but there will be the need for the candidate to have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle or have the means to travel with the appropriate equipment to educational settings across Durham and Darlington, so that instruments can be inspected where our teaching and delivery is taking place on long term programmes.
The service is committed to safeguarding children. All candidates will need to demonstrate a commitment to the welfare and safety of children and young people. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon receipt of satisfactory pre-employment checks.
Further details are available from Durham Music Service. If you wish to speak informally about the role and/or your application please contact Paul Gill – paul.gill@durham.gov.uk or 03000 262368.
