Website Lancashire County Council

Can you help shape the future heart of Lancashire?

Lancashire is a vibrant and striking place to live and work and it’s also one of the fastest growing locations in the UK.

As the fourth largest local authority in the country and the largest in the North, we serve 1.2 million residents. Our City Deal programme adds £1bn a year to the economy and £2.3bn of private investment with a potential £1bn worth of investment around the HS2 hub at Preston Train Station, so there’s lots to do. We’re the leader in terms of advanced manufacturing in the country and the 9th largest manufacturing area globally. It’s a key region linking both industry and innovation to a strong local heritage and an area of outstanding natural beauty.

We’re now looking for an outstanding leader to drive forward our growth and regeneration agenda that will improve the lives of people across our flourishing county.

Our new Head of Service will utilise their broad and deep knowledge of strategic economic development and regeneration to lead, shape and deliver services responsible for a whole range of regional opportunities to promote, regenerate, enhance and sustain economic development and jobs growth across Lancashire.

We are seeking a dynamic leader who has significant experience of leading strategic economic development and regeneration alongside all aspects of growth, environment and investment. You’ll be a member of the directorate management team and work collaboratively and closely with officers and elected members across the county and within district and unitary councils as well as key stakeholders at a strategic and decision-making level. As a consequence you will be contributing and influencing at the highest levels requiring a high level of strategic input and corporate working in a fast-paced setting.

Closing date: Thursday 19th December 2019 Interview date: Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th January 2020
