Our borough is beginning a huge transformation. With ambitious regeneration plans, a need for new infrastructure, and plenty of investment on the way, things are changing. And we are transforming our organisation to be better equipped to have the greatest impact for our community. We need leaders to take us on the journey.
As Head of Project Management Office (PMO), you will be responsible for the oversight and monitoring of all our major council programmes. We are ambitious for Redbridge and are setting ourselves stretching targets to deliver for our residents. You can play a key part in making it happen.
You will provide expert project leadership and quality assurance on a wide range of modernisation programmes, ensuring effective project / programme management principles support positive outcomes, value for money and benefits realisation. You will establish and lead an enhanced corporate client-side programme management office capability that gives the Corporate Leadership Team strategic board oversight and intelligence. Ensuring excellent programme governance across all corporate programme activity, you will apply sound risk management principles to legal, financial and procedural aspects of complex and high value programmes of work. You will be quick to identify where programmes (or elements of programmes) are off track, and ready to play a part in any remedial measures. You’ll also have an important role to play in monitoring our responses and progress in areas where a need for improvement has been identified.
It's an opportunity that demands significant experience of programme, project and portfolio management – set against a backdrop of organisational change and transformation. You should be accustomed to working with senior managers in a large, diverse and complex organisation – advising, influencing and, when required, holding to account. A detailed understanding of governance, and how issues are reported and decisions made at different levels in an organisation is vital. You should be highly data-literate, with excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills. As well as an eye for detail, a systemic understanding will enable you to cut through to the root cause of an issue, including an ability to analyse, calculate and manage risks. Fundamentally, you will be an effective enabler who can manage a wide range of complex issues and agendas at the same time and drive change through influence and diplomacy.
You can contact Steve Guest or Amy Billington at Solace in Business on 020 7976 311 for a confidential discussion.
