Website RedbridgeLive Redbridge London Borough Council

In a global city with a population of millions, parking matters. And that’s why we need a strong and experienced leader to be Head of Parking and Traffic Services in Redbridge. We’re ready to push forwards with major improvements and change the way we work, which gives you the chance to shape modern, professional services.

With 18 car parks, off-road parking, contracts and internal systems to think about, this role comes with a broad portfolio – which is exactly what you like. You’ll thrive on the opportunity to drive progress across the board, backed by a new parking strategy that starts in 2020. The challenges include the extension of our CPZ, getting value from our car parks, managing around 200 pay and display machines and overseeing CCTV activities. Our IT systems are due to be upgraded and you’ll be in charge of the implementation plan.

Meanwhile, there’s a number of enforcement and IT contracts that need to be reviewed and re-tendered if required. To help you, there’ll be three capable managers and their dedicated teams. You’ll develop them, taking officers to the next level. At the same time, you’ll improve internal processes which will deliver improved success rates at tribunal. With responsibility for the air quality agenda too, there’ll be plenty to keep you busy and engaged.

A local government background isn’t essential, but you must have parking expertise. With this experience, you’ll know how to manage contracts, deal with parking technology and build relationships with a number of key partners. As you shape improvement, you’ll need to navigate a complex political landscape, so you should be ready to influence and manage high-level connections.
