Our Council is changing. We’re reviewing our structure, systems and our culture to create a more sustainable model for the future, that is better placed to meet financial challenges, can make better use of data and technology in our work, and ensures a clarity of focus on our priorities for the borough.

This role will be central to this work, working in partnership with colleagues to deliver a broad cross-cutting portfolio of modernising programmes. This requires a breadth of perspective and attention, promoting a culture of progressive thinking alongside the introduction of new delivery models and ways of working. We want to put residents at the centre of service design and delivery and to create an organisational culture that encourages people to take responsibility, embrace innovation and pursue continuous learning and improvement.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is willing to ask big questions of the organisation, and to consider whether long-established models of delivery continue to be the right approach. Effective collaboration will be at the heart of this role – working alongside others to really get under the skin of the relationships and co-dependencies of different parts of the organisation.

It's an opportunity that demands significant experience of leading and delivering organisational modernisation and culture change at a strategic/senior management level. You should be able to demonstrate a track record in improving the customer experience/journey while delivering service efficiencies alongside a sound professional appreciation of programme, project and portfolio management.

You should have an excellent awareness of how to manage risk within a change programme and have a clear sense of how to ensure clarity of reporting on progress and milestones along the way. Highly developed relationship and engagement skills will be vital to support constructive challenge and to build shared momentum behind new initiatives.
