Great Yarmouth Borough Council has secured significant funding to deliver its ambitious capital programme and leading on a number of exciting mixed-use multiple tenure regeneration projects, including the prestigious £26m Marina Centre anchoring the seafront investments,  the redevelopment of the  Market Place including the town centre library and Learning Hub, the reimagining of The Winter Gardens funded by the Heritage Fund, North Quay, The Conge and a pipeline of other housing, town centre and seafront regeneration projects.   

We are looking for an ambitious, motivated and dynamic individual with a ‘can do’ attitude to lead the Capital Projects team and deliver our ambitious programme of work.  

Responsible for investing proactively in the borough’s future, Capital Projects are crucial in delivering the Council’s capital programme, building strong relationships across all of our stakeholders, whether they are private, public, voluntary or community and leading in the delivery of the council’s exciting investment agenda.  

This role will have responsibility for a varied commercial and residential portfolio of projects and your knowledge and experience must include direct accountability for managing capital projects from inception to completion, professional quantity surveying, contract administration, construction management, property development or project management disciplines, detailed knowledge of PRINCE2 project management (or equivalent), an ability to process complex information, deliver against competing deadlines, communicate amongst many internal and external stakeholders, as well as influencing, persuasion and negotiation skills.  As well as leading the team, this role will also include developing and managing project management, contract and cost management governance arrangements around the Corporate Plan, capital programme and all our major projects.
