​Facilities Management Apprentice

The Directorate of Regeneration, Enterprise & Skills is responsible for leading on many high-profile projects and we are seeking to fill a key post within the Building Management team.

This role forms part of the Building Management team who manage a number of our commercial buildings across the whole borough.

We are looking for someone who is driven and self motivated to deliver high quality work across a truly unique and exciting London borough.

Professional Duties:

The apprentice will be expected to:
To perform a range of Facilities Management works and duties which include specific tasks related to the formal qualification.
Work with colleagues, taking instruction, making notes and meeting the basic needs of the team.
Communicate with both internal and external customers to the standard expected using a range of communication methods (verbal, written, telephone, email, letter etc).
To deal politely with members of the public. After training, be able to deliver an acceptable level of customer service at all times.
Research and collate basic data/information required both in the workplace and at college
Team Specific tasks:

To work under supervision to learn the role of Facilities Management Officer for example:
Deal with complaints and queries by telephone, email or in person according to agreed procedures.
Initiate routine correspondence.
IT literate and able to use the Microsoft Office Suite.
In carrying out the duties of the post have due regard to the provisions of Health and Safety at work legislation.
Assist with office moves and space planning
Assist with Meeting Room bookings and management of the system.
Process orders ranging from stationary, furniture and equipment. Within a set timescale.
Produce reports on own work.
Be fully acquainted with all legislative matters relating to own area of work.
As part of Building Management Team, to carry out the key tasks of room bookings, product ordering and to assist the FM Manager with planning and execution of office moves.
Personal Development:

To undertake a varied programme of work experience, practical and theoretical training leading to a recognised apprenticeship qualification (Level 3 Facilities Management) as part of an apprenticeship programme.
To actively participate in their own development plan, which will be agreed with the line manager and the assessor from the training provider. To undertake the requirements of the academic element of the apprenticeship (e.g. attendance at college and completion of academic work). A minimum of 20% of working week will be allocated to this.
Regularly attend and meet the needs of the college and qualification by meeting deadlines and action plans and being prepared and available for observations in the workplace.
To apply the theoretical learning in face to face delivery
To achieve personal appraisal targets, as agreed by the line manager.
To keep up to date knowledge of Building Management Systems

Why an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to gain vocational qualifications, whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience. Successful candidates will secure a fixed term contract in the council on a highly competitive apprenticeship salary.

You’ll receive:

A nationally recognised level 2 or 3 Apprenticeship (you’ll have study release for this)
Full time roles (35 hours per week, including training)
Salary of £20,466
Please note that to be eligible for an apprenticeship, you must demonstrate a level of competency in Mathematics and English at GCSE Grade D/ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications
