Website Hertsmere Borough Council

Executive Director

£109,000 – £118,000 pa + benefits

Based in Borehamwood

Hertsmere Borough Council is just 13 miles from the bright lights of London’s West End and is looking for a first class performer to join us in the spotlight.

We need a motivational leader to support our Managing Director in delivering the Council’s vision, priorities, strategies and major projects and management of front facing services including Planning, Street Scene, Environmental Health, Property and Engineering. You will engage with key stakeholders across Hertfordshire on the growth agenda and place shaping and lead the Climate Change Agenda in Hertsmere.

You will have a proven track record of successfully leading complex critical services and developing effective partnerships within a political environment. Your considerable Local Government expertise, strategic vision and commercial acumen will be invaluable to the Council’s subsidiary companies and make you the perfect person to enhance the Council’s reputation as being a great place to live, visit, work and invest.

Hertsmere is a borough with a beautiful natural environment and 80% of the area is in the green belt. In response to population growth and the demand for increased housing and infrastructure, we seek to balance our ambitions for new housing, employment and investment opportunities with our environmental aspirations.

We are a financially stable Council with a good track record of attracting investment into the area, including from the film and TV creative industries, which are a key contributor to the local economy. Currently, we have a major planning application from Sky Comcast for a new cutting edge 14 stage studio development in Borehamwood. Hertsmere is also unique in that it owns the world famous Elstree Film Studios Ltd, home to film greats such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones and hosting popular TV shows such as The Crown, Strictly Come Dancing and many more.
