Environmental Health Officers (EHO’s) in the Majors and Project Support Team, will be responsible under the direction of the SEHO for responding to planning applications, reviewing associated complex specialist reports (including Contaminated Land, Air Quality, Noise, Lighting), dealing with pre-application enquiries via the Planning Team, and  attending relevant meetings with colleagues, developers where required.

The successful candidates will also be required to attend planning committees when requested, in order to provide technical back up where required when presenting the council’s position on developments. EHO’s will be required to provide technical guidance on both council and private projects and development proposals, and will play their part in ensuring that the team’s targets/deadlines are met. EHO’s will also assist the SEHO in the production of guidance to assist colleagues in planning/technical matters.

The EHO’s in this team will be expected to work from a number of offices in order to support the services we will be working closely with by providing on hand advice/technical support.

The Environmental Health Officer role is a generalist role, and therefore, you may be required to work in the wider Pollution and Noise team or one of the other Environmental Health teams such as Food and Health and Safety depending on need and the skills and qualifications of the rest of the team.
