An exciting opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified, competent and experienced Environmental Health Officer (Food Safety Officer/Health & Safety Officer) registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board to work in the Citizen and Consumer Protection, Business and Consumer (Environmental Health) team within Regulatory Services and Community Safety. 

The job will entail food hygiene and occupational health and safety inspections, interventions and investigation of related service requests. The role also includes the investigation of infectious diseases, statutory nuisance at commercial premises and animal welfare cases.

The successful candidate should have good communication skills, be self-motivated, willing to work on their own initiative and as part of a supportive team. The ability to work as an enforcement officer is essential as is a detailed understanding of relevant legislation. 

Qualifications

Either a qualified Environmental Health Officer, registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board

Or other qualifications of as defined in statute to carry out specific Environmental Health functions

Or where no specific qualifications are specified, a relevant degree plus 2 years relevant post qualification experience
