As Director of Housing and Community Services, you will provide strategic direction to the Council’s housing management services and promote partnership working that brings a coherence to the portfolio of services and functions within the post (e.g. Regulator of Social Housing, Housing Ombudsman, building safety and health and safety).
You will be responsible for Heads of Service and Senior Managers concerned with the delivery of a wide range of services and related functions within the Directorate, including the HRA, Community Safety (Statutory Partnerships with the Police and other agencies), cross tenure housing strategies, significant capital programmes and personal engagement in tenant and stakeholder forums.
You will also be responsible for implementing the Fire Safety recommendations from the Grenfell Enquiry, and will be the named Council Director responsible for fire, gas, water, asbestos and electrical legislation and safety in Council owned homes, and the enforcement of the HHSRS and Fitness Standard in private rented homes.
Substantial experience of managing and developing a major service or function such as Housing, Estate management, Revenues, Community Safety etc. within a large public sector setting or within a large housing association organisation with comparable assets is essential.
