Redbridge Council is seeking a Deputy Chief Executive to drive organisational change, digital innovation, and workforce development. This is a pivotal executive leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape the future of the Council and ensure it remains modern, inclusive, and customer-focused.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead a broad portfolio including organisational development, workforce strategy, digital transformation, IT, data governance, and programme delivery. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will also deputise for the Chief Executive and play a central role in shaping the Council’s strategic direction.

You will be accountable for:

  • Leading organisational development and workforce strategies that support a skilled, motivated and inclusive workforce.
  • Overseeing the Council’s digital and IT transformation programmes, ensuring services are modern, accessible and efficient.
  • Driving the Council’s modernisation agenda and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring robust data governance, cyber security and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Leading the Programme Management Office to support delivery of major projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Advising Members and working collaboratively across the Council to deliver corporate priorities.
  • Representing the Council externally and building strong partnerships with stakeholders across London and beyond.

About You

We are looking for a strategic and inspirational leader with:

  • A strong track record at a senior level in organisational development, digital transformation, or related services.
  • Experience leading large-scale change and delivering improved outcomes in complex environments.
  • Deep understanding of local government policy, workforce development, and digital innovation.
  • Political awareness and the ability to work effectively with elected Members and stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, inclusive leadership style and commitment to customer service and equality.
  • Strong financial and performance management skills, with a focus on value and impact.
