One heart, one home, one future – we are one Stockport and we have a plan for everyone.
As our new Chief Executive, you’ll be joining us at an incredible moment. We’re so proud of the way our communities have come together during the pandemic and we’re building on their hard work to make our town an even better place. Stockport has ambition and is rich in history and culture. It’s vibrant and well connected with unique neighbourhoods, local villages and district centres.
Our Vision for 2030 sees us all working together to develop a borough which is inclusive, caring, enterprising and full of ambition. Created by our partners across every sector, our borough plan highlights not only the goals we share but the level of collaboration possible.
We’ve been transforming our town centre with award winning commercial developments and breathing new life into Stockport’s historic marketplace and underbanks. These bold ambitions have continued, with the establishment of the Mayoral Development Corporation, which is focussed on regenerating our town centre west as well as the new and exciting transport interchange which will be ready to accommodate the Metrolink.
Our nationally recognised integrated children’s service Stockport Family (health, care and education services) provides joined-up services and is underpinned by restorative practice. Working closely with our partners in health and care will be an important priority as we move towards an Integrated Care System.
We are an award-winning digital council and want to drive this work further and faster as we strive to become a radically digital borough. We are redefining our approach to work through hybrid working and rethinking our use of buildings.
Tackling inequality and climate change, while continuing with our ambitious plans, will be your key focus. We’ll ask you to lead from the front, acting as the principal adviser to our councillors, providing strategic leadership to our partnerships and inspiring our colleagues. You’ll actively build relationships across Greater Manchester and beyond to help our borough shine. Bring the unlimited passion, valuable experience and endless commitment to do the best job for our communities, and we’ll reward your efforts.
