Are you interested in supporting York to become a carbon neutral city?

We are expanding our Carbon Reduction team and are looking for talented and passionate individuals to help deliver this ambition for the city and make York a greener and cleaner place to live, work and visit.

You should be able to demonstrate experience of working on projects that have delivered a measurable reduction on carbon emissions and display a good understanding of the challenges facing local authorities in delivering net zero carbon.

The ideal candidate will possesses excellent analytical and communication skills, be a proven problem solver and have experience of delivering carbon reduction or climate change projects.

The Carbon Reduction Officer will be required to work with colleagues across the organisation to deliver our Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan.

The role is a position based within the newly formed Policy and Strategy team, part of the Customer and Corporate Services Directorate, and reports to the Head of Carbon Reduction.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
