Aiming to kickstart the rejuvenation of Holes Bay and the wider Poole area, BCP Council’s Cabinet will consider investing in a major housing and regeneration scheme in Carters Quay tomorrow.
Carters Quay has been identified as a key priority area for future development and regeneration in the town, situated on the waterfront and close to the centre and neighbouring residential areas.
The scheme, which will deliver 161 new homes, supports the Council’s ambitions to regenerate Poole and bring a mix of residency, business, hospitality, culture, and green spaces to the town.
Cllr Drew Mellor, leader of BCP Council, said: ‘We have an excellent opportunity to shape the development at Carters Quay, deliver much needed homes for the community and ensure that this contributes towards our wider promise to regenerate Poole. It will also be another important step in our Big Plan, which aims to create a world class city region to – one of the best coastal places in the world in which to live, work, invest and play.
‘Furthermore, this would be a major long-term investment for the council and will be an asset for future generations. If approved, it could provide a positive financial return up to £41 million in the next 50 years.’
The Council has worked with its newly formed Urban Regeneration Company (URC) on a design review of the proposals for the area, with support from Mae Architects.
