Nottingham City Council has given the green light to the first stage of the much awaited Broadmarsh regeneration programme, which the council believes will put Nottingham in the ‘top 6 retail centres in the country.’ The intu Broadmarsh shopping centre will be redeveloped alongside a new car park. Eventually, a new central library, a new bus station and a new Nottingham College building are planned for the area. According to the council, the intu Broadmarsh and car park developments have been funded by ‘significant’ private sector investment, grants and future income from these developments. Intu says they are investing £150m into the project.
