Housing scheme launched to help Liverpool locals onto the property ladder

An award-winning housing provider has recently completed a new apartment block aimed to support residents in Liverpool climb the property ladder.

One Vision Housing, an award-winning housing provider located in Liverpool, has celebrated the completion of its Conway Point development this week – a new apartment block located in the Wirral, an area situated between Liverpool and North Wales.

Located just a two-minute walk away from Birkenhead town centre, the new building contains 46 new, modern apartments – plans to construct the homes began last summer.

Conway Point was created as part of The Sovini Group’s development framework, which aims to combat high housing costs, through producing 1,000 high quality and affordable homes within the next five years.

Through the Group’s Rent to Buy scheme, customers who decide to rent properties in the new apartment block will benefit from affordable rent which is set at 20% less than market prices, helping them to save towards a deposit and buying the apartment they live in.

A report by the Centre for Social Justice in 2022 found that over 40% of the population in the North West felt that housing costs in their area were ‘too high’, with 77% agreeing that social housing was an essential resource for vulnerable people.

Ian Mitchell, Managing Director of housing at The Sovini Group, said: ‘Our Conway Point development is delivering on our Group’s vision of a better future, as we create opportunities and change lives by helping local people to get onto the property ladder.

‘We look forward to welcoming customers into their new homes and seeing them thrive within our communities for years to come.’

As well as helping combat high living costs, the apartments, which have been built by Sovini Construction, were created using a ‘fabric first’ approach that focuses on the reduction of energy consumption, through thermal efficiency and running costs.

Apartments are all equipped with environmentally efficient specifications, supplied by local independent building merchant, Sovini Trade Supplies, including toilets, taps, showers and light fittings, which all contribute towards the Group’s net zero carbon commitment.

James Flannery, Director of Construction and Land, said: ‘The Conway Point development has been designed and built to the highest standard.

‘The apartments strive to be energy efficient as we continue to embrace renewable technologies with an environmentally friendly approach to construction.’
