Housing association starts 18-month repairs programme

Housing association Mount Green has appointed local repairs contractor Chigwell Construction to improve the delivery of day-to-day repairs, maintenance across its 1,700 homes.

The specialist contractor is one of the South East’s leading companies for delivering quality repairs and maintenance services for housing associations and local authorities. This includes Wenlock Barn, Poplar HARCA and Shepherds Bush Housing Association.

The interim appointment of Chigwell is part of the social housing providers ongoing work to completely change its approach to handling repairs, maintenance and voids.

Last month, the organisation announced it had doubled the size of its property and assets team, which would be overseen by a new director. Alongside these changes, the team is working with Mount Green’s residents to redesign a brand-new repairs programme.

‘A core focus for us and many housing providers across the sector is ensuring our customers are heard,’ said Andrew Donaldson, director of property and assets at Mount Green.

‘Whilst we work on meeting the expectations of the promises made in the past, it was important to us that we also made a number of changes to improve our current service offering.
