2024 has been a tough year, especially financially. However, new research shows factors such as the cost-of-living haven’t been enough to deter households from giving back this festive season.
WRS Insurance Brokers, charity insurance specialists, have published new research that shows the festive spirit of giving continues to bolster through the UK despite ongoing cost of living challenges. Experts found 79% of respondents are planning to maintain their charitable contributions this Christmas and 13% pledging to give even more. Only a mere 6% are planning to reduce their donations.
What’s more, over 50% of respondents claimed they’re most likely to support community charities this festive season.
‘Despite ongoing financial pressures in the UK, this research shows that people’s generosity and commitment to giving at this time of year remains strong,’ said Gungor Baykan, head of broking and operations at WRS Insurance Brokers. ‘It’s inspiring to see so many people prioritising community, family and giving even in challenging times. The willingness to contribute both financially and through acts of service speaks volumes about the compassion of our communities.’

To give context on how generous Brits can be, this year it was reported that almost two-in-five households (39%) were in ‘serious financial difficulties’ or ‘struggling’ financially, yet a magnificent amount of people are still planning to give back this month.
