Carbon Co-op to host webinar on reducing domestic carbon emissions
The not-for-profit is organising the webinar to discuss the importance of retrofitting UK homes and addressing some of the barriers households face whilst trying to access it.
Cost is one of the biggest problems households face when looking to upgrade to greener alternatives. This is why the webinar is also set to discuss the Carbon Co-op’s Levenshulme Area-Based Retrofit scheme – a project that is being trialled in Manchester which aims to offer neighbourhood retrofit packages rather than just ones tailored to singular households.

Arguably, the event couldn’t have come at a better time. The webinar aligns with government targets to upgrade as many homes as possible to EPC Band C by 2035. The government also has a target to ensure that all fuel-poor homes are at least band C by 2030.
According to the UK Green Building Council, there are 29 million homes in the UK that will need to be retrofitted before 2050, and at least 15 million need to be retrofitted before the end of this decade.
The webinar is going to be chaired by Co-founder and Director of the research agency Harlow Consulting, Jennifer Brennan, who recently led a Skills Need Analysis for Historic England.
Jennifer said: ‘This event is an important opportunity for anyone working in the built environment to learn from the Levenshulme pilot. We’re bringing together an incredible panel of specialists who will offer their insights from this innovative project.’
