1 x 37 hours per week, fixed term for 12 months.

We are looking to appoint a one year, temporary Planning Assistant to support the delivery of an effective and efficient planning service. The post-holder will work in the Citywide Team and will primarily have responsibility for dealing with householder and a range of minor planning applications. We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has a degree or post graduate qualification relevant to Development Management, with relevant experience of handling planning applications and who can demonstrate customer focused communication skills with experience in collaborative working.


Environmental Health Officer – Private Sector Housing

Gateshead Council is seeking to appoint an Environmental Health Officer to join the Private Sector Housing Team. The Team is made up of Environmental Health Officers and Technical Officers and works across a broad range of housing related issues to improve private sector housing conditions, and to tackle housing related crime.

Temporary Accommodation Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Councils’ Housing Solutions Team as Temporary Accommodation Officer.

You will work as part of a very busy team, with responsibility for managing the Councils’ (own stock) temporary accommodation. You will also be required to provide support to clients currently residing in SMBC’s own stock temporary accommodation, ensuring that support is provided to enable clients to resolve their housing issue and to obtain/sustain accommodation so that move-on from temporary accommodation is achieved at the earliest opportunity.
