Thurrock is going places. We are an ambitious, effective and exciting
unitary driving huge opportunities for our residents and businesses. Well
known for its growing international ports at London Gateway and Tilbury,
Lakeside, the largest retail park in Europe, and High House Production
Park, home to the Royal Opera House, Thurrock is a borough of contrasts.
With over £6bn of private investment in growth, picturesque villages
and Green Belt land which accounts for 70% of the borough, we have
contrasting pockets of both wealth and poverty.
Nottinghamshire County Council is exploring new ways to identify and grow entrepreneurial income streams in order to become more self-sufficient.
A new Commercial Development Unit will head up this challenge by providing professional support and development to services that offer the greatest potential.
We are now seeking someone to head up this new unit and help re-imagine what acting more commercially means within a local government context.
This is your chance to not only take charge of some of the most public-facing services delivered by our authority but also be a significant player in the leadership of the directorate and the Council. You’ll share the uncompromising desire of our leadership team to transform the Borough – and make the most of opportunities arising from the devolution of Greater
Manchester. We’ll look to you to direct and shape projects delivered solely by the Authority and in partnership that change futures for Stockport’s residents, communities and businesses. In your safe hands, Stockport will start to look and feel different.
