Senior Surveyor

You will actively contribute to the development, delivery and implementation of the Corporate Asset Management Plan and Capital Strategy. You will provide a professional service for the valuation, acquisition, disposal and management of council assets to service directorates, stakeholders and customers, carry out fixed asset valuations for inclusion in Council accounts, instruct, manage and monitor solicitors, agents and other professional contractors and sub-contractors undertaking Asset Management related work. You will also be required to supervise and monitor assistant surveyors, trainees and technical and administration teams.

Highways Operative (Street Lighting)

Highway Services has an opportunity to appoint a Highways Operative (Street Lighting) on a permanent contract based at Meadowfield Depot; however you may be required to work at any Council workplace within County Durham including adjacent authorities.

The post will require the successful candidate to drive the Street Lighting HGV vehicle and operate the large crane arm both removing and installing various size lighting columns from 6m to 12m in height including 9m wood poles, you will be responsible as part of a two person team for the excavation of the column foundation holes and the re instatement on completion of works in various ground types from tarmac to flagged, installation of feeder pillars, duct work and associated underground lighting cables working from design drawings. The Hiab vehicle is a specialist piece of plant and can be called on to carry out various works requiring the crane arm capabilities on a day to day basis
