Gar Alperovitz is an economist and historian at the forefront of the movement for a new economy. He is a theorist – having written books including America Beyond Capitalism – and also a practitioner, helping build the Evergreen workers’ co-operative in Cleveland. To him, shifting to a new economy is the ‘most important set of fights in history’.    There is a growing sense that our current economic system does not work. Have you noticed a shift?
